Using Goldstar online reservations didn't work out so well. Although we received a confirmation, there was no record of our payment. We were allowed to board only because we had proof of payment. Then, photographers were handing out pictures to guests. We were never approached by a photographer for our picture to be taken. We ordered a glass of wine. The glass came out with lipstick stains around the perimeter of the glass. We brought this problem to the bartender's attention. The bartender agreed. Then, it was 9:30 p.m. and the ship did not set sail yet. We spoke to the manager on board. She explained that there was an ice problem and we may or may not sail. We questioned why quests were not advised of this problem and why did we have to ask if there was a problem. There was no valid explanation provided. We finally set sail at 9:30 p.m. and sailed until 10:30 p.m. This was a disappointment for us. This didn't turn out to be the birthday present we expected. The manager assured us she would contact us on Monday. It is now 7:52 p.m. and we have not received a telephone call from her. She will be receiving an unpleasant letter from us in the mail. On a good note, our waiter was outstanding, friendly and efficient. The food was also very delicious. I hope that this helps others when making a decision on whether to purchase tickets for the Spirit of Philadelphia.Written on Jan 23 2012

The Friday night cruise was the entertainment cruise. It was great if you are looking for a tourist attraction. I was looking for a novelty experience for dinner, but I thought it would be more focused on dinner. The buffet was good, the entertainment was good, but the quiet(er) outdoor deck was the best part. I would recommend this for a special occasion or for a large outing, not for a romantic dinner for 2.Written on Sep 19 2011
