Those brand-new 2014 calendar pages are waiting for dates to be filled in. This three-play subscription by Walnut Street Theatre gives you some great evenings at the theater to look forward to well into spring. First up is Other Desert Cities, a funny and gripping new Broadway drama from the creator of TV's Brothers & Sisters and a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It takes going home for the holidays to new heights of dysfunction. The family hilarity continues with the madcap dark comedy Arsenic and Old Lace, a classic of American theatre. The Mainstage season closes with How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, the musical satire of 1960s big business and all it held sacred. This blockbuster musical comedy features a beloved score packed with memorable tunes. This special subscription offer lets you buy now at a huge savings, and choose the specific show dates later. A group of four went to this show with medium expectations. Unfortunately we set the bar too high as this was probably one of the most boring and nonsensical musicals we've seen. The premise of Uncle Festor wanting to play matchmaker to Wednesday and her new boyfriend is befuddling but not as quite as was his love infatuation with the moon. The songs were lacking in lyrics and absent any catchy tune you'd ever want to hear again. Although we tried to hang in and hoped the show would eventually rise in caliber, we left shortly before the show ended as we much preferred beating the rush than bearing 5 more minutes of this show.

This was a very well produced and enjoyable show with a group of very good actors. There were quite a few children n the audience who seemed to enjoy it as much as the adults.
Fans of the Addams Family will want to make an effort to see it.
