Conceptually, the tour sounded great. However, Joe Poon spent much too much time talking about himself and his accomplishments. Plus, the food that was served was ordinary. We expected more from a "master chef".Written on Nov 15 2011

Chef Joseph was very scattered in his presentation and really lacked focus. Very impressed with himself, listed a confusing array of his qualifications/experiences and seemed interested only in tangentially in members of the group. Would be grateful improved with a less frenetic presentation and a introduction to what the tour will be like. Enjoyed the tour of the grocery stores in the neighborhood and found being ushered into tsotchke shops to browse offensive. There was no context for these visits. I was also disconcerted by the inappropriate and prejudicial comments about "lazy" "fat" Americans who don't know how to eat. Even criticized people for walking too slowly, commenting that "I walk fast" and "I only sleep 3 hours" per nite and that's why I got somewhere and you won't. I do understand the need to proud of your culture and accomplishments, but context was lacking.Written on Nov 28 2011

This was so a fun thing to do! Chef Poon is very entertaining. The walking tour is kept within a few block radius so it is very easy for everyone to do. We learned how fortune cookies are made, went to an Asian market and learned a lot about the different herbal remedies used, went inside a Temple and a restaurant equipment store. After we returned to Chef Poon's and had a fabulous dinner! We definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a fun and entertaining thing to do with great food!Written on Oct 10 2011
