Comedian, actor and Daily Show correspondent Al Madrigal is one of the most gifted stand-up comics working today. Known for his hilarious stories from his life, he's performed stand-up on the Tonight Show, Conan, Lopez Tonight, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and was named Best Stand-Up Comedian at the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. He's acted in numerous prime-time series, including CBS's Welcome to the Captain with Jeffrey Tambor and Gary, Unmarried with Jay Mohr, and NBC's Free Agents with Hank Azaria. JB Smoove is best known for his breakout role as Leon on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” which has firmly planted him as one of the best comedic actors today.
After spending several year as a stand up comedian in New York City Smoove moved to Los Angeles and landed a recurring role on MTV’s “The Lyricist Lounge Show,” as well as featured guest spots on “The Chris Rock Show” and “Premium Blend.” This led to his first big feature film, where he narrated and starred in the cult classic “Pootie Tang,” reuniting with Rock. Smoove subsequently following this up with a co-starring role opposite Adam Sandler in “Mr. Deeds.”
After a season as a cast member on the sketch comedy program “Cedric the Entertainer Presents,” Smoove moved back to New York City where he landed a writing position on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” He later was a recipient of the 2007 Writers Guild award for “Best Comedy/Variety Series” for his work on the show.
In the standup and acting worlds, Smoove has been featured on “Tough Crowd,” “Jamie Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza,” and several “Saturday Night Live” and “Late Night with Conan O’ Brien,” sketches. He was a recurring character on “Everybody Hates Chris” and later became a cast member on the Brad Garrett sitcom “’Til Death.” He will next be seen as host of the new Comedy Central standup series, “Russell Simmons Presents: The Ruckus,”. Smoove recently shot his own one-hour stand-up special “That’s How I Dooz It” for the cable channel and will be co-starring in the NBC series “Bent”. Smoove also serves as host of this year’s CLIO Awards special, celebrating the world’s best commercials.
On the big screen, he appeared in “Date Night” with Steve Carell and Tina Fey and the Farrelly Brothers directed comedy, “Hall Pass.” His most recent film projects are “The Sitter” with Jonah Hill, “We Bought a Zoo” featuring Matt Damon and “The Dictator” opposite Sacha Baron Cohen.
