This is great entertainment ... the portrayal of Sylvia is truly outstanding ...Written on May 03 2010
There are a couple of scenes with quite strong language in it ... we were not offended ... on the other hand, I would not take my grand-daughters to this show ...

The venue was very quaint, my only complaint were that the seats were so close together, there were 6 of us and we were very uncomfortable. One of our guest's back got a kink in it, he had to stand the last half of the show, ended up at the emergency room not being able to move... The play itself was hilarious, casting perfect!! I was sad that we were seeing it on the last week-end running, I wanted all my friends to go see it.Written on May 21 2010

Description
Greg and Kate are city-dwellers who are adjusting to life after children. Kate's career as an academic is taking off, while Greg is being transferred to ever more meaningless and unsatisfying jobs. In a walk in the park, Greg finds a homeless dog with a tag indicating her name is Sylvia. He brings her home, fleas and all.
Sylvia immediately establishes herself as Greg's constant companion. She does what pets do: she's loves him unconditionally. She's frisky, playful, and tireless, loves to be petted and scratched, and hangs on his every word. Soon Greg is avoiding work so he can bask in her delightful company. Kate recognizes a rival for Greg's affections and a serious threat to her marriage. She tries to get Greg to give Sylvia up. Soon Greg must choose between wife and dog. It is not an easy decision.
A.R. Gurney, less formally known as "Pete," is one of the most prolific and produced playwrights in America. His work focuses primarily on the issues and realities of middle-class American life and has been produced on international theatre stages for more than 30 years.
