I did enjoy the show but it was clear that one actor's performance shone above the rest-leagues above the rest! From there the performances in descending order were Tom, Laura and Jim. Tom's portrayal was respectable but Laura was not as sympathetic as she could've been-the young actress played her as pathetically comical-perhaps this was the current director's vision; Jim was worse-I believe a case of miscasting false 'cockiness' when a bit more humble would've been more appropriate. Amanda was the quintessence of the old South and her neurotic and somewhat deulsional character was brilliantly portrayed- a performance worthy of the Broadway stage. But when one has embedded the great performances by Arthur Kennedy, Pat Hingle, Michael Moriarty, Katherine Hepburn, Kirk Douglas, Shirley Booth, etc. it is difficult to remain objective.

This is a must see! I HIGHLY recommend going to see this show!! The actors were phenomenal!! As I sat in my seat, I didnt realize I was about to be pulled into this life...amused by the quick wit, feeling each moment of heartache, sitting on the edge of my seat, just as I realized I had both my hands clasped over my mouth... holding my breath! I became so enthralled by this beautiful, witty, heart-wrenching... life. BRAVO! If I could give this more than 5 stars would!

Good actors. Simple, but nice beautiful mood-setting set. Kept the audience's attention the whole way through. It was a wonderful evening out.

Absolutely stupendous!!! The actors were at the top of their craft that evening and if I had seen the play when it first debuted I would probably have come back again. Lovely, just lovely!

Description

Tennessee Williams’ enduring classic is an award-winning portrayal of a disintegrating family during the depression of the 1930s. Looking back through the eyes of Amanda Wingfield’s son Tom we share an intimate moment of their family life in a St. Louis tenement house in the delicate atmosphere of time remembered.

Vulnerable and tragic, The Glass Menagerie is one of Williams’ most intimate and heartrending dramas and introduced him as one of the preeminent American playwrights of the 20th century.
