In my opinion, this show is for people who don't get out much, and who don't see very many Cirque shows. First of all, I drove from Seattle to Portland for this event because for some reason, the Seattle engagement of OvO was cancelled without explanation.Written on Apr 09 2012
I love the Grand Chapiteau experience. It's much more intimate than the arena tours, BUT the light poles can often get in the way.
OvO seems like it really was created for the audience directly in front of them (the most expensive seats), as sitting on the side made me feel like I was watching the show from the wings of a stage.
My expectations were quite high, as I had been waiting to see this show for two years. This was my 13th Cirque Du Soleil show, and it's definitely in the bottom 3 or 4 (along with Viva Elvis, IMMORTAL, and the offensively bad Criss Angel BELIEVE). First off, the energy level was SO low, and it definitely showed that many of these people had been doing this show since the beginning of the production in 2010. The clowning went on for so so so so long, and the clowns just were not funny. I hate spending money to see people in the audience make fools of themselves. I can do that for free anywhere else. The show was extremely uninspired, and lacked that spark that Cirque shows has back in the 90s. I wish they would stop creating so many new shows, one right after the other, and focus on the quality of the productions instead. The story was confusing, the bugs weren't at all exciting. The choreography was horrible. Most of the acts were things I've seen in everything else (hand balancing gets so so so so old when it's in every show). I was excited with the big inflatable ball at the beginning of the show. I thought it would pop open, or something exciting would happen, but when the lights went down and came back up, it was just gone. What a waste. Not to mention the actual egg that kept being carted around. I wish something better could have happened wit the egg (after all, it is OvO). Even including the positive aspects I enjoyed about the show, there were no wow factors. It was quite boring, and I was disappointed. I don't even think it was worth the Goldstar price.
The positive: The costumes. The music. I loved the musicians and the singer. I enjoyed the slack rope, flying and kiwi acts, but I still didn't enjoy them enough for me to like the show.
I really really hope I enjoy Totem and Amaluna better.

This is my second Cirque (Varekai was the first) and it again redefines creativity...for all ages. The trampoline and climbing wall act was especially exciting, using both in new (and larger) ways than I'd ever seen (or imagined). Out matinee had lots of children, who all enjoyed it as much as we did. I'd guess kids over maybe five would enjoy it, mostly depending on their ability to handle a non-stop hour performance (followed by 30-min intermissions and another hour performance). It's pretty fast-paced and varied, so should be easy. Costumes were beautiful, stunning, outrageous and sooo creative, as we've come to expect from no one other than Cirque. Souvenirs and snacks were high-priced, even for an event. ($4.25 for a bottled iced tea, $18 for a souvenir program). Parking ($8) at the Portland Expo Center was very disorganized both in and out. Next time I would take MAX.Written on Apr 23 2012

It was fun, especially for younger kids -- Bug theme they enjoyed. Good deal. Our only regret was our schedule wouldn't allow us to go to the earlier show. The show we attended was a bit late for our kids, especially after traveling most of the day. Cirque is always enjoyable and amazing performers.Written on Apr 30 2012

Cirque du Soleil has never disappointed me, and this time is no different. Only the most talented people are associated with Cirque du Soleil, which are themed acrobatic events that include amazing music and comedy in between acts. The theme of OVO is insects and the show was very entertaining. This particular event even included a violinist who could play behind his back. The show amazed the audience from beginning to end. The absolute only downside to this event is the outrageous prices of the food and drinks, but that seems to be everywhere you go nowadays.Written on Apr 30 2012

Description
OVO is a headlong rush into a colourful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement. The insects' home is a world of biodiversity and beauty filled with noisy action and moments of quiet emotion.
When a mysterious egg appears in their midst, the insects are awestruck and intensely curious about this iconic object that represents the enigma and cycles of their lives.
It’s love at first sight when a gawky, quirky insect arrives in this bustling community and a fabulous ladybug catches his eye – and the feeling is mutual.
OVO is overflowing with contrasts. The hidden, secret world at our feet is revealed as tender and torrid, noisy and quiet, peaceful and chaotic. And as the sun rises on a bright new day the vibrant cycle of insect life begins anew.
