An absurdist tragicomedy originally published in 1960, The Caretaker was Nobel Prize-winning writer Harold Pinter's first major success. Frequently likened to Samuel Beckett's classic Waiting for Godot, The Caretaker revolves around the mentally challenged Aston, the fast-talking tramp he invites to stay with him, and Mick (Aston's younger brother, housemate and caretaker). The Caretaker stands as a prime example of Pinter's masterful ability to mix darkness, humor and humanity. For this Imago Theatre production, Jerry Mouawad directs Allen Nause in the lead role. Is Spider getting too big for his own skin? Will Fly find her superhero powers in time to save her Aunt Rita from peril? Will Worm learn to stand on his own two feet…even though he doesn’t have any feet? We invite you to take a look at the world from a bug’s perspective. Perhaps you’ll see that their lives are not all that different from yours.
From the smallest bugs to the tallest giraffes, we are all dependent on each other to keep our earth healthy. This play is 90% recycled, reused, and locally made!
This world premiere musical captures all of the droll humor and whimsy of the wildly popular books by Doreen Cronin and Harry Bliss.
