A boisterous and uplifting portrait of love in a nontraditional family, La Cage aux Folles has been one of Broadway's biggest hits for 30 years, winning numerous Tony Awards. Georges and Albin, a gay couple who run and star in a popular drag show, find their domestic peace shattered when their son brings his prospective in-laws home to meet the folks. The would-be father-in-law happens to be the head of a conservative party that wants to shut down the drag show. The lively and glittering spectacle that ensues celebrates family values, unconditional love and, above all, the need to be proud of who we are. The show, which was adapted into the popular movie The Birdcage starring Robin Williams, features gorgeous costumes, fabulous dance numbers and a wonderful Jerry Herman score, including "The Best of Times" and "I Am What I Am." Is Spider getting too big for his own skin? Will Fly find her superhero powers in time to save her Aunt Rita from peril? Will Worm learn to stand on his own two feet…even though he doesn’t have any feet? We invite you to take a look at the world from a bug’s perspective. Perhaps you’ll see that their lives are not all that different from yours.
From the smallest bugs to the tallest giraffes, we are all dependent on each other to keep our earth healthy. This play is 90% recycled, reused, and locally made!
This world premiere musical captures all of the droll humor and whimsy of the wildly popular books by Doreen Cronin and Harry Bliss.
