Canada's most iconic cowboy storyteller and songwriter Ian Tyson makes a rare Portland appearance with this Alberta Rose Theatre show. Perhaps best known in the U.S. for his hit song "Four Strong Winds," which was voted Canada's No. 1 song of the 20th century and made world-famous by Neil Young, Tyson turned 80 in September 2013, but his energy remains undimmed. Since 2000, he's released five albums, filmed a music documentary, penned a bestselling autobiography -- all while taking care of his working ranch in southern Alberta. Join this legendary singer-songwriter as he reflects on a five-decade musical career that's produced some of the most beloved cowboy songs of the modern era. Learn More

Spending some time with this singer-songwriter is always an enjoyable evening. Recognized by the British with appointment to the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his contributions, he continues to write music that represents the best of the Scot spirit. Always gives a personable and warm performance that makes you feel it takes place in the comfort of a group of friends with ingaging back stories and sing-a-longs of his well known songbook. You will leave with the smell of a peat fireplace and the warmth of a single malt.
