Portland's own defunkt Theatre company turns its award-winning attention to Fire Island. A romantic comedy (of sorts), Fire Island closes out defunkt's 12th season with a voyage to that legendary vacation getaway for generations of New Yorkers. The titular isle sets the scene for this funny, biting, poignant and hopeful play that takes place over the course of a single summer day. Romantic love in all its stages and forms is explored, from couples, to singles to groups of friends all looking to make sense of love -- and maybe a new connection.

The writing was amateur, the actors were merely reciting lines and the staging was a joke. what a complete waste of time. I did my best in waiting until intermission to leave and never turn back. Appropriate for children under the age of 14.
Defunkt Theater is so descriptive.
