Showcasing Cole Porter's signature wit and masterful composition, Roundabout Theatre Company's Tony-winning production of Anything Goes features beloved songs such as "I Get a Kick Out of You" and "You're the Top." This timeless tale of boy-meets-girl and the resulting roller coaster ride centers on Billy Crocker, who falls hopelessly in love with a wealthy heiress. When he sees her boarding a boat to London, he throws caution to the wind and becomes a stowaway. Madcap hijinks ensue when his fellow passengers, including the evangelist-turned-nightclub-singer Reno Sweeney and second-rate gangster Moonface Martin, decide to help Billy win his true love. view more less of this reviewVery well-written play with lots of dramatic tension and touching scenes. The acting was superb; energetic, lively actors developed fully realized characters. My only quibble was that the probably wooden articulated snakes did not look realistic-other than that, this fully earns my five stars.
star this review starred report as inappropriateGreat acting and very thought provoking. Only 2 criticisms...the ever present pillar that blocks view. Also, because I ordered thru Goldstar, the 3 of us were not allowed to sit together which was a strong negative for me. I see no need to do this if we arrive in plenty of time. First come first served is how it should be no matter what price one pays. Why do you do this?
star this review starred report as inappropriateQuenched my atheist's thirst with the Linney's long awaited play about unceremonious intrusion of a religion into peoples lives. Felt like sitting in a church on a sunday afternoon. Actors were great; skillfull and motivated. Why would I go to a movie theater and pay double when I can get to see so many wonderful actors at the Firehouse Theater.
