Even among Shakespeare's "greatest hits," Othello has a special place. Few works are this sexy, this dangerous, this relevant to the passions and evils of the modern world. Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army, and his new wife, Desdemona, seemingly have it all -- true love, success and happiness. But can anyone protect them from "honest" Iago, a master magician of deceit? The inspiration for villains as varied as Milton's Satan and Breaking Bad's Walter White, Iago is one of the most hypnotically evil characters ever created. This is Shakespeare's profound tragedy of the power of love and jealousy. Learn More

Terrific show! The script was both funny and touching, and you left with a real sense of who James Beard was. Fantastic acting and crisp, interesting, thoughtful direction made this production a standout. The Gerding Theater is beautiful, and the seating arrangement leaves enough room for your knees. A real pleasure. Tip-top recommendation!
