Lee Fields began his singing career in 1969, and almost 50 years later, he's making the best music of his life. Fields, who toured over the years with Kool and the Gang, Sammy Gordon and the Hip-Huggers, O.V. Wright, Darrell Banks, and Little Royal, first hooked up with the Expressions in 2002. The house band for Brooklyn's Truth & Soul Records, The Expressions have also recorded with Aloe Blacc, Adele, Ghostface Killah and Jay-Z. Fields' powerful voice, which has drawn James Brown comparisons throughout his career, has combined with the Expressions' commitment to finding new sounds in old-school soul, funk and R&B to form a truly special band. Since the release of their latest album, 2012's Faithful Man
, they've toured across North America and Europe, appeared on Last Call With Carson Daly
and opened for the Black Keys and Wilco. Portland soul revivalists Brownish Black open the show.
