Magical Strings' Celtic Yuletide Concert
Magical Strings' Celtic Yuletide Concert at Alberta Rose Theatre
Singing, dancing, juggling, caroling, storytelling and more will fill the historic Alberta Rose Theatre's stage as Magical Strings performs its Celtic Yuletide Concert. A grand gala of Celtic-inspired holiday music, this annual tradition features three generations of the multi-talented Boulding family -- playing Celtic harps, hammered dulcimers, violins, cello, whistles, concertina and percussion -- along with special guests. There's even opportunity for audience participation, as spectators are invited to don a costume, follow a processional through the aisles and join in for some caroling. For this performance, Magical Strings will share the stage with the award-winning Tara Academy Irish Dancers, vocalist Colleen Raney, Canadian fiddler Jocelyn Pettit and other special guests.

Celebrate the heroism of motherhood with this special Mother's Day concert from the Portland Youth Philharmonic. Often cited as the beginning of the romantic period in music, Beethoven's third symphony, also known as Eroica, is one of the milestone works in classical music. Inspired by the ideals of the French Revolution, Beethoven set out to musically explore -- on the grandest of scales -- what makes a hero. PYP is the oldest youth orchestra in the country and is comprised of talented local musicians age 7-22. The ensemble performs around the globe and is renowned for its programs fostering music education in Portland-area schools. Learn More
The restrooms are insufficient for the size of the crowd. Management might want to add a couple--I'll bet it would help sell more beverages.
