An absurdist tragicomedy originally published in 1960, The Caretaker was Nobel Prize-winning writer Harold Pinter's first major success. Frequently likened to Samuel Beckett's classic Waiting for Godot, The Caretaker revolves around the mentally challenged Aston, the fast-talking tramp he invites to stay with him, and Mick (Aston's younger brother, housemate and caretaker). The Caretaker stands as a prime example of Pinter's masterful ability to mix darkness, humor and humanity. For this Imago Theatre production, Jerry Mouawad directs Allen Nause in the lead role.
