Sans Merci examines the lives of college students Kelly and Tracy, who get involved in a dangerous humanitarian mission to South America. While helping the U'wa Indians in Colombia, the ladies are brutally attacked by revolutionaries, leaving Kelly crippled and Tracy dead. Years later, Kelly meets Tracy's mother, and both of them must deal with the grief and truth of what happened during that ill-fated mission. This powerfully cathartic drama addresses rape, homophobia and the silencing of women through an unapologetic, honest script. Johnna Adams' play premiered in 2008, winning the Bloomington Playwrights Project's Reva Shiner Award. Learn More

Quotes & Highlights
Multiple Drammy Award-winner and Portland Center Stage Associate Artistic Director Rose Riordan directs Passion Play by Sarah Ruhl, one of contemporary drama’s most distinctive voices. This epic panorama of amateur actors participating in re-enactments of Christ’s Passion portrays productions of the ritualized Christian drama taking place in 16th-century England and Hitler’s Austria.
