All-female sax quartet the Tiptons return to the Alberta Rose Theatre. Based in New York, Seattle and Eau Claire, Wis., the Tiptons pull inspiration from a wide range of soulful musical styles, including jazz, swing, world, Afro-Cuban, klezmer and beyond while playing both lively original compositions and inventive arrangements of known world music tunes. And though the saxophone provides the group's core tone, the Tiptons augment their upbeat, dynamic live shows with healthy doses of clarinet, vocals, percussion and drums.

Bill Payne, accomplished keyboardist and co-founder of legendary rock band Little Feat, brings his solo act to the Alberta Rose Theatre. Payne has created a very personal and interactive show, Tracing Footsteps - A Journal of Music, Photography and Tales from the Road, which combines stories from his life in music, solo performances of classics like "Truck Stop Girl" and "Oh Atlanta," a sampling of his art photography and a Q&A with the audience. The Hooligans will both open and back up Payne later in the show, while special guest Dennis McNally, longtime official publicist for the Grateful Dead, will also be on hand to share stories from his Deadhead days.
