Northwest Children's Theater performs a brand-new production of Cinderella that's designed for the whole family to enjoy. Inspired by the Broadway favorites of Porter and Gershwin, this is a musical adaptation that will set your toes to tapping. The beautiful but put-upon Cinderella must toil all day under the smirking demands of her awful stepsisters -- and then sleep among the cinders come night. Cinderella finds a way to make it to the Prince's ball, though, and even manages to capture his heart. Yes, she loses one of her shoes in the process, but what she gains is more precious than all the gold in the kingdom. This production will be best enjoyed by audience members who are at least 5 years of age. Learn More

Written on Oct 23 2012The NW Children's Theater production of The BFG was delightful! I took my son and family. My two grandsons (ages 3 and 5) were enthralled from beginning to end. It's not easy to keep an active 3-year old engaged for 90 minutes, so that's high praise indeed. Sets, costumes, lighting and music were great. Most of the cast played multiple roles, and seamlessly made costume changes. And who doesn't love a running wizpopping joke? Gotta love Roald Dahl.

Written on Oct 22 2012The BFG was a wonderful experience. My whole family thoroughly enjoyed it. I have a 7 and almost 10 year old both of whom are very familiar with the book; it was perfect for them. It was our first time seeing this theater group. The production was top notch, the seat were very good and the acting was terrific! Especially the BFG, he was OUTSTANDING. Along with a fabulously talented Sophie. The meet and greet after the show was a wonderful added bonus:) Thanks Goldstar! And thanks Northwest Children's Theater of Portland!!!
Written on Oct 15 2012This production is a delightful visual presentation of my favorite Dahl story. The actor who portrays the BFG perfectly captures his charm, both physically and verbally. Just enough of the precious dialogue between the BFG and Sophie is preserved and the representation of the human bean-eating giants is pitch-perfect - slightly menacing but not frightening. While the BFG stole the show, the other cast members - notably the actors who played Sophie and the Queen - were wonderful, too.
