There was food to purchase at the theater but the lines were long. Since we went to an 11:00 a.m. showing we waited for lunch. The Heathman Hotel is just up the street and a special place for a nice, albeit, expensive lunch.Ivy + Bean: The Musical dining • Oct 28 2014 star this tip starred

I thought it a most extraordinary opera. So creative and deep. I loved it all: the libretto, the music that didn't necessarily guide the singers, the dissonance in the duets of the angels, the angels themselves, the Black Madonna, the Greek chorus in masks, the play-like intensity of mostly just recitativ (so well acted, too), the interlocking themes of war and environmental destruction - both for oil. I valued the racial diversity and the subtext of strong African American characters helping White characters in community - that experience reflected in art is needed in our world and country.
It just doesn't get better than this.
