A Cappella Group The Bobs: The Band Without Instruments

Full Price:
$40.00 - $52.00
Our Price:
$20.00 - $26.00

You have to be crazy -- or crazy talented -- to survive as an a cappella group for 30 years. The Bobs, the original "band without instruments," fits both qualifications to a T. Back in the early '80s, they caused a sensation with their all-vocal interpretations of New Wave hits, including their electrifying cover of Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer." They went on to open for both Frank Zappa and the Grateful Dead, and performed for 700 million people on the Emmy Awards. At every opportunity, this Grammy-nominated quartet has reinvented songs from several genres with manic energy and true musical genius. Learn More

as the program was advertised, the packed crowd was anticipatory of the main attraction, and as good as the opening act pianist & his group were they were on for too long, and the person singing Sinatra songs only sang 12 songs, if memory serves me correctly....nice venue, I will be back, good food, good service, good Maitre' D

This event was misleading. The first hour and twenty minutes was an instrumental combo (I will admit they were talented though!), playing weird arrangements of Fur Elise and other classical tunes. We didn't stay after the intermission, as we were EXPECTING the event to be the Frank Sinatra tribute (the entire time). I'm sure he was great, but we were mad that the show's title was different from what we saw.

Piano player fabulous. What a showman and the side men were good too -- except for the sax player who was out of step and off key. John DeMers has timbre' of old Blue Eyes, but no attitude, no feeling. He seemed to be finding his way with this group. He forgot the words once and said "Whoops" (can't imagine Frank apologizing). I think this group could use a little more rehearsal. Show started late. Piano player worked the room for an hour. John did about 50 minutes of 'Sinatra' after a break. Too long a wait for too little.
