Two must-see performances are on the docket during this night of indelible music by the Redwood Symphony. First, maestro Eric Kujawsky conducts a world premiere concerto, Heart's Gate, a tribute to the Golden Gate Bridge's 75th anniversary, featuring a virtuosic part composed for the Marimba Lumina, a versatile synthesizer laid out like a marimba with multiple mallets. Then, the delectable and rarely-heard complete score to Stravinsky's first neo-classical work, the ballet Pulcinella will be performed, featuring soloists Theresa Cardinale, Brian Thorsett and Richard Fey. It promises to be a stirring night of classical sounds both old and new. Learn More

A most enjoyable concert. The lecture beforehand was instructive and interesting with recorded excerpts for illustrations. The venue was casual and the presentation informal making Mahler most accessible, although I have to admit that Anderson's "Fiddle Faddle" almost stole the show.Written on Feb 13 2012
