Bay Area jazz legend Pete Escovedo comes to Angelicas with his sextet, which includes his son Juan, smooth jazz guitarist Ray Obiedo and Bay Area artists Bob Karty, David Belove and Phil Hawkins. The master percussionist's music seamlessly flows among Latin jazz, salsa, funk and R&B styles. In addition to his many years as a bandleader, Pete also spent three years as a member of the group Santana, and is the father of pop star Sheila E. Pete Escovedo has long been a fixture of the San Francisco music scene, and is known as the patriarch of a talented musical family. He gained attention on the national scene in 2002 when he appeared on the PBS special Austin City Limits. Learn More

I have been to many many prelim rounds of the SF Comedy competition over the years and I must say that tonight's round had one of the strongest fields of 10 performers that I have ever seen. They all killed with great material, delivery, etc. It was a great night and I would highly recommend anyone to go see another prelim round at another venue before the competition is over. We were rolling in the aisles with tears coming out.
