A sharp and clever comedy about a weekend getaway gone awry, Noel Coward's Hay Fever introduces audiences to the Bliss family and their outlandish behavior. Novelist Simon Bliss and his retired actress wife Judith take their two children away for a quiet vacation in the countryside with some special invited guests. But the family's eccentric and exhausting egocentric behaviors deteriorate into such a row that they do not even notice their guests' departure from the country house. Renton Civic Theatre's production of Coward's stylish comedy demonstrates why he was considered a master of the genre.

Donna Austin and cast were wonderful. Such an enjoyable play. Everyone can identify with someone in the cast and many of us with more than one. Highly recommend the play.
As usual my only complaint is the seating is close so large person is somewhat uncomfortable.

Very high level performance! The costumes, set, and acting were all really excellent. We enjoyed the show a lot!

The play was well performed. We enjoyed the costumes and sets. We dined at a local restaurant prior to the show and walked to the theatre.

Although the dialogue was a bit mushy at the beginning, overall this was a very enjoyable outing. The standout performer was the actress who played the young female guest, speaking volumes with her facial expressions. Parlor farce at a high level....

Description

Mr. Coward sends the audience on holiday with the eccentric and somewhat self–absorbed Bliss family. The four Bliss family members spend the weekend in their country home and unbeknownst to each other have each invited a romantic prospect. As the unsuspecting romantic prospects begin to arrive and family members each discover the increasing number of guests, the Bliss family lives up to its name as the "quiet weekend" comes to an exhausting and hilarious finale.
