Enjoy a pair of uplifting seasonal favorites to get you into the Christmas spirit. The concert will feature Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols and John Rutter's arrangement of Joy to the World!, a wonderful medley of popular Christmas carols and hymns. Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols was written in 1942 while on a ship traveling from the United States to England. The piece consists of eleven movements, with text taken from The English Galaxy of Shorter Poems. Harpist Catherine Litaker (Chicago Harp Quartet) will accompany the NWCS on A Ceremony of Carols, and a complimentary preconcert lecture and discussion of the music will take place prior to each concert. About the Ticket Supplier: Bella Voce
The mission of Bella Voce is to entertain, inspire, and educate through the performance of choral chamber music. They are committed to giving historically informed, professionally polished performances in original languages, and to keeping the art of polyphonic, a cappella singing alive and flourishing. Bella Voce places a special emphasis on bringing little-known pieces and neglected composers to our audiences. Their wide-ranging repertoire includes a cappella literature of the mid- and late-twentieth century, works commissioned from American composers, and sacred music of the Renaissance and Baroque eras.
