It's "comedy tonight" in Stephen Sondheim's laugh-out-loud musical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Travel to ancient Rome and experience the zany antics of Pseudolus, a slave on a quest for freedom. This slapstick musical sings and dances its way through mistaken identities, a house full of courtesans and an elaborate web of lies that all lead to an uproarious night in the theater. The winner of six Tony Awards, this is one of the funniest musicals ever written. Sondheim and comic writer Larry Gelbart (M*A*S*H, Tootsie) seamlessly combine situations from the timeless comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the fast-paced, slapstick energy of classic vaudeville to create a nonstop entertainment extravaganza. Excellent play with and outstanding job done by all members of the cast. Well worth our time and I would recommend this to anyone. It amazed us how professional this was from the wonderful live music to the great costumes, singing and acting. Two thumbs up !
The classic Mel Brooks movie is ALIVE! You’ll have a monstrously good time at this spectacular new production, winner of the 2008 Outer Critics Circle Award and the Broadway.com Audience Award for BEST MUSICAL! Don’t miss the sensational cast delivering all your favorite moments from the classic film, plus brand-new show-stopping numbers for the stage, including Transylvania Mania, He Vas My Boyfriend and Puttin’ on the Ritz.
This wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend follows bright young Dr. Frankenstein (that’s Fronkensteen) as he attempts to create a monster—but not without scary and hilarious complications. The brains behind the laughter is mad genius and three-time Tony® winner Mel Brooks himself—who wrote the music and lyrics and co-wrote the book- along with his record-breaking team from The Producers: five-time Tony-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman and three-time Tony-winning writer, Thomas Meehan.
