American Dance Institute concludes its 2012/2013 season with the Festival of New Works, showcasing new material from select D.C.-area choreographers. After year-long artist residencies with ADI, Erica Rebollar, Karen Reedy and Vincent Thomas are ready to premiere brand-new works created in an environment free of outside pressures and commitments. Rebollar's GOODHURT
investigates the role that hurt plays in the private lives of performers. Created through the personal lens of each dancer, the multimedia project is a highly charged journey using dynamic movement to display the politics and negotiations of hurt as part of the human experience. Reedy's Albatross
feeds our fascination with flight as it explores aviation, migration and the human form in flight through space and time. And Thomas' Occupy
is a stunning work that considers notions of how we inhabit space, what occupies our minds, what occupies our souls, and how these notions move us to make change. The works are presented in rep, so you can choose to see one or all.
