Bel Cantanti Opera performs Handel's passionate opera seria in a fully staged and costumed production, complete with live accompaniment from a chamber orchestra, conducted by artistic director Katerina Souvorova. Loosely based on the life of Persian ruler Xerxes I, Serse sparkles with romantic intrigue, along with a dose of comic satire, as the king falls for a woman who's in love with his brother. The Mozart-influenced score boasts a number of thrilling arias, including "Ombra mai fu," the beautiful piece better known as "Handel's Largo". Now celebrating its 10th successful season, Bel Cantanti sings the work in Italian, with projected English supertitles. Learn More
