Treat the whole family to the annual Rockville tradition of Rockville Civic Ballet's delightful production of this famed holiday favorite. Directed by Claudia Mangan and set to Tchaikovsky's timeless score, this glittering tale follows young Clara, who receives the gift of a nutcracker at her parents' Victorian Christmas party. That night she dreams of a grand adventure that begins with a handsome prince, continues with an epic battle between mice and toys, and comes to a climax with a magical journey to the Land of Sweets to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy. Please pass this on to the VLOC group. We enjoyed the singing, but the fact that it was done without appropriate costuming diminished the pleasure in seeing the operetta. Also, the addition of the 'business' with the "Occupy Ploverleigh" lent nothing to the play and possibly confused audience members who are new to G&S. It's OK to add some modern references in a song such as KoKo's "I've Got a Little List", but 4 people plopped on stage with sleeping bags and signs was not entertaining.
Come see directors Ali & Pete Oliver-Krueger's contemporary take on two of the earliest extant collaborations of Gilbert’s acute wit and Sullivan’s glorious music.
In The Sorcerer, two lovers who see each other through the eyes of young love wreak havoc in their little village through their youthful idealism and naivete. What if everything Alexis says and does is motivated by the bone deep conviction that Aline-sweet, rich, beautiful, beloved Aline-is way out of his league? What would Alexis be willing to do, to try, if it meant he could avoid losing Aline? Enter John Wellington Wells, a dealer in magic and spells ...
In Trial By Jury, a sensational (and hilarious) breach-of-promise case culminates in that rarest of outcomes – everyone is satisfied!
