After a successful kick-off in 2013, the National String Symphonia starts off its second season with a concert spotlighting the 1957 Pulitzer Prize-winning piece Meditations on Ecclesiastes, written by prolific American composer Norman Dello Joio. Gustav Holst's St. Paul's Suite, Paul Lewis's Rosa Mundi, Gareth Walters' Divertimento and Edward Elgar's Serenade are also on the program. Under the baton of Maestro David A. Fanning, this talented string orchestra is made up of violin, viola, violoncello and contrabass players, as well as a harpist. Learn More

Arrived and received tickets and the seats were good - Row N in the center. The disappointing part was the show itself. While it is not Gilbert and Sullivan's best show, the fact that the orchestra was on stage instead of in the pit, leaving little space for the chorus, eliminated most of the 'business' and the dancing, both of which should be part of the experience
