Written on Oct 07 2011Listening to the actors speak about their craft of acting, and the writers on the act of writing and getting their thoughts from paper to screen was insightful.
Written on Oct 04 2011There were pros and cons to this event. Parking was pricey. Discount passes were available bringing the cost down to $9. Passes were on the front table, but if you missed them you had to ask. Event coordinators could do a better job letting attendees know. Also could definitely use more vendors.
On the plus side, it was a good crowd, good people watching, I enjoyed the panelists and the costume competition was a sight! The discounted tickets were well worth spending a day indulging complete nerdiness and I would go again.
Written on Oct 04 2011Even though I didn't pay much for these tickets I was really disappointed. I got these tickets for my spouse who is a trekkie. We arrived at the Westin at about 11:45am. We had to pay $19 to park in the hotel parking lot - you also have to pay to park at the hotel across the street - so beware. We waited in a pretty long line, only to be told that people with GOLD tickets would get preference and general admission tickets would not be handed out until 12:45pm. It does not take a rocket scientist (or maybe it does) to figure out that there should have been (3) lines set up - one for GOLD, one for preferred and one for general admission tickets, instead of one line of chaos. In addition, because this was my first conference, I was not aware that you could even purchase GOLD or preferred tickets. Note that GOLD tickets were approx. $400 each. In addition, there were very few vendors in a small space. I found the event to be very unprofessional and feel sorry for anyone who paid to get into this event. I would never go again. It was not well organized or professional in my opinion.
Written on Oct 04 2011Not that much going on. Needed a lot more events and/or a lot of condensing to the schedule. If something didn't interest you, you were left with 1-2 hours of nothing to do.
Also, Westin Hotel parking fees are atrocious (with no in and out privileges for the down time).
