It's "comedy tonight" in Stephen Sondheim's laugh-out-loud musical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Travel to ancient Rome and experience the zany antics of Pseudolus, a slave on a quest for freedom. This slapstick musical sings and dances its way through mistaken identities, a house full of courtesans and an elaborate web of lies that all lead to an uproarious night in the theater. The winner of six Tony Awards, this is one of the funniest musicals ever written. Sondheim and comic writer Larry Gelbart (M*A*S*H, Tootsie) seamlessly combine situations from the timeless comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the fast-paced, slapstick energy of classic vaudeville to create a nonstop entertainment extravaganza. I was a little nervous in purchasing tickets through Goldstar given that the seats were to be assigned by the box office but we assigned great seats. Ordering the tickets through Goldstar was just as easy as ordering them on-line through the theaters website.
The set was very well done and the acting was fantastic. My guests from out of town were very impressed with the show and we all had a great time.
