This delectable comedy about mistaken identity, adultery and gourmet cooking was a huge hit in Paris. Don't Dress for Dinner follows the misadventures of Bernard, who plans a romantic weekend with his mistress while his wife is out of town, even hiring a Cordon Bleu-trained chef to cook, and inviting along a bachelor pal as an alibi. Mix all of these ingredients together, and events get suitably stirred up in this breakneck farce from Bob and Ro Productions.

Theatre is great and actors did an excellent job making this an enjoyable evening at a very reasonable price.

We really enjoyed the play. It was fresh and quite entertaining. The venue was quite nice, too. I loved the tiered seating and how close we were to the stage. It was easy to hear every word spoken.

The only complaint is regarding the other attendees. People talked constantly during the show - asking what had been said, commenting on what was happening, etc. None of it was whispered, either. Also had a cell phone go off for quite some time. I would suggest that management add the request to shut off cell phones and keep talking at a whisper if at all during the pre-show spiel.

In a converted farmhouse, Bernard (Simon Hunt) is hoping to entertain his chic, Parisian mistress, Suzy (Summer Hairabedian), for the weekend. He has arranged for a cordon bleu chef (Melissa Elhardt), to furnish the gourmet delights, is in the process of packing his wife, Jacqueline (Angela Thompson), off to her mother, and has even invited along his best friend Robert (John Chitambar), as a suitable alibi. It’s foolproof, what could possibly go wrong...?  

Nothing much, just... crossed signals, mistaken identities, jealous husbands, and more affairs than expected! Mix all these ingredients and you have the perfect recipe for an evening of hilarious confusion as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed!  

Marc Camoletti’s comedy was a smash-hit in Paris (under the original title Pyjamas pour Six), where it ran for over two years. Robin Hawdon’s adaptation of this French original was premiered in 1991 and played to critical acclaim at London’s Apollo Theatre.
