Seasons of Light: Master Chorus Eastside's Holiday Concert
The Master Chorus Eastside spreads tidings of joy, honoring both of the wintertime holidays that celebrate light, in a seasonal concert featuring a new work by composer and University of Washington professor emeritus Abraham Kaplan. For the ensemble's tribute to Christmas, they'll sing traditional carols like "The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy," "Fum Fum Fum," and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," along with famed choral composer Morten Lauridsen's O Nata Lux. The Jewish holiday comes to life with the debut of Kaplan's Eight Days of Chanukah, which reflects melodies from his childhood in Israel, along with liturgical texts and rabbinical poetry. Kaplan will be on hand to discuss the work 20 minutes before the concert.
