From potent rhythms of tribal music to the intricate steps of gumboot dancing, journey through the jazz of Sophiatown to the inspirational joy of Gospel and the powerful pounding energy of Kwaito when the pulsating musical celebration of South African song and dance, Africa UMOJA: The Spirit of Togetherness, comes to the San Diego Civic Theatre. From Johannesburg to London and the United States, this energetic show has captivated audiences and wowed critics wherever it travels. With beautiful costumes & award-winning, internationally acclaimed choreography, Africa UMOJA is a loud, colorful and jubilant celebration of life that audiences from all backgrounds have found infectiously delightful and uplifting. The cast of 40 comes from a myriad of South African cultures, each having their own story to tell through various forms of dance and different styles of music.
