Written on Apr 23 2012Last time I purchase "discount" comedy tickets for quasi comedians. Kevin Shea's best moment was when he turned off the TV on stage while doing his gig. Only time I really laughed. Other than that he is vulgar, crude, shoots for shock value and is not even funny. This guy should take a look at real comic greats and learn from them. Jasper Redd has some value and does a good gig on fast foods, but often the Ebonics make it difficult for the audience to understand him. I'd rate him b+-A-. Just good, not even very good. But Kevin Shea is so wrong, Shea is Sh--.
Written on Apr 23 2012Great show! Both comedians were very entertaining. I would definitely do it again.
Written on Apr 23 2012Kevin Shea was ok but Jasper Redd was not funny at all.
Written on Apr 23 2012Great Comedians and venue.....5 stars. Got ripped off on the drinks - $20.00 for "unlimited soft drinks"...got one drink 20 minutes into performance. Never saw the waitress again. Check left on table with no "thanks". Made me reduce "total experience" to 3 stars (generous). Would be hard pressed to return.
More Information About Comedians Kevin Shea and Jasper Redd
Description
Kevin Shea was originally born in Seoul, Korea, and in January of 1981, he was adopted and sent to America to live with a middle class Irish family in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He is the son of James and Madalyn Shea, parents of five children, two white chicks, two Korean boys, and one Korean girl. Both parents were middle class. James was a Korean War vet and a decorated police officer, and Madalyn was a factory worker. His parents' personalities were spitted images of Archie and Edith Bunker. It was as if All in the Family was combined with Different Strokes. Being from a very middle class family, Shea was the first to attend college.
After graduating from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Shea was curious to explore the rest of the country, so he moved to San Francisco in 2000. There he would discover stand up. After moving to San Francisco, Shea started a career in the internet industry which lasted a whole year. In 2002, he was laid off and was convinced by a friend to go to an open mic. Influenced by Eddie Murphy Raw, Shea decided to go to the open mic dressed in a purple leather jumpsuit, not a good idea. His first set was not very good. Not trying to become the typical Asian comic, Shea strayed away from Korean accents based on their mothers', plus, his mom is a honkey. He concentrated on developing his own style which has said to be very laid back and fresh. With his unique style and jokes, he caught the eyes of Hollywood and was invited to the prestigious Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. Shea has numerous television appearances which include Comedy Central's Premium Blend, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and most recently, HBO's Down and Dirty with Jim Norton. He is currently living in Los Angeles.
A native of Tennessee, Jasper Redd began his comedy career in San Francisco. He has since been performing non-stop at comedy clubs and colleges all over the country. In 2005, he was hailed as one of the standout New Faces at Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival, and has been a featured performer in the "Comedians of Comedy" U.S. tour with Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Maria Bamford and Zach Galifianakis. His television appearances include "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", "Last Call with Carson Daly", Comedy Central's "Premium Blend", and HBO's "Def Comedy Jam". Last year, he toured colleges around the country as the host of American Eagle's Campus Comedy Challenge.
