Directed by Bill Condon (films Chicago, Dreamgirls) and inspired by the true story of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, La Jolla Playhouse's production of the Tony Award-nominated musical Side Show follows the two sisters -- literally joined at the hip -- on their meteoric rise to fame during the 1930s and beyond. Track their personal and professional lives from circus sideshow freaks to vaudeville headliners as well as their lifelong search for independence and love. From the composer of Dreamgirls, Side Show features the songs "I Will Never Leave You," "Who Will Love Me As I Am?" and "Come Look at the Freaks." Learn More

It was preview week, and some of the actors didn't quite have their parts polished; this will likely improve. The main problem I had was that I wasn't sure what the point of the play was and that 4 out of 6 characters were caricatures. The character of the woman who manages the motel was well-developed and believable. Anita Bryant's character was really funny. The other four were cliches with over-the-top dialogue.
The performance contains adult language and smoking.
