From a talented cast of young actors (all under the age of 18) comes this timeless musical tale of star-crossed romance. A reimagining of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, this cherished production tells of the ill-fated love affair between Tony and Maria as it plays out amidst the gang rivalry between the Sharks and the Jets. With lively music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (Sweeney Todd), this favorite of the stage features such hit songs as "Something's Coming," "Maria," "America" and "I Feel Pretty." Also adapted into an Academy Award-winning feature film, West Side Story remains an unforgettable theatrical experience. Learn More
A Corrido is a dramatic story told in song, dance and image - a unique fusion of music, theatre, opera, mime and comedy. While the title is Spanish, the songs and stories come from the Latino, African American, Asian, Portuguese and French cultures, using both traditional and contemporary material and music. The world premiere of Corridos REMIX is a 21st century fusion of story and song that transcends cultural barriers and celebrates global music from a rainbow of cultures and traditions including Mexican and Asian, with world music, rock & roll and folk as well as traditional Corridos. The revue-style show focuses on the "American Experience" as a grandfather looks to pass on the tradition and the history to his sometimes unwilling granddaughter. In addition to the recognizable contemporary music, the show includes stories of love and passion - the so-called narco-corrido, the legend of John Henry, and the story of Mulan.
The production will include the use of super-titles.
