Join the San Diego Symphony for an Summer Pops evening at Embarcadero Marina Park South with a man who was in the middle of all of that Sixties psychedelia, and has emerged as a vital and upbeat performing artist for today: Davy Jones…Daydream Believer.
In a concert celebrating the truly fun side of the 1960's, conductor Matthew Garbutt opens the program with a musical tribute to all of the great and familiar TV shows that were actually on the air in primetime in 1966.
Then, 60's pop idol and musical sparkplug Davy Jones takes the stage for a trip back to a time when the country was going nuts for a "Pre-Fab Four" with their own fresh, funny, and in many ways groundbreaking TV hit, The Monkees. What started as a television producers "concept" became a real musical group with bona fide hits such as "Last Train to Clarkesville" and "Daydream Believer".
