The San Diego Symphony presents A Tribute to Ray Charles at Copley Symphony Hall as part of its Winter Pops series. Principal Pops Conductor Marvin Hamlisch will conduct the proceedings, which will feature Ellis Hall, a former protégé of Ray Charles. From "I Can't Stop Loving You" and "This Little Girl of Mine" to "Hit the Road Jack" and "Georgia on My Mind," Charles was a legendary voice in American music, and his memorable, toe-tapping tunes remain as catchy as they are timeless.

Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson Performs Thick as a Brick 1 & 2

Full Price:
$25.00 - $65.00
Our Price:
$12.50 - $45.00

Ian Anderson performs Jethro Tull's definitive prog-rock album, Thick as a Brick, plus Anderson's follow up to the album, Thick as a Brick 2, in their entirety. This tour will feature a theatrical production with video and additional musicians, including Ian's band: bassist David Goodier, keyboardist John O'Hara, drummer Scott Hammond and wunderkind guitarist Florian Opahle. British singer and actor Ryan O'Donnell will also provide vocals. He was chosen for his ability to perform vocals as they sounded on the original Thick as a Brick album. Thick as a Brick 2 revisits the first album's child poet Gerald Bostock 40 years later as an adult, proposing different scenarios for the paths he may have taken in life: greedy banker, ordinary shopkeeper, soldier, beggar or evangelical preacher. A bit of a disappointment to get there, and learn Maestro Hamlisch too ill to perform, but Matt Garbutt is always a kick to watch.
The show was outstanding! Great to see so many young people in the audience; sorry so many empty seats, for great fun concert. The Symphony was, as always, superb. A Great Treat! Thank ytou!

It was a nice night to see the old Fox Theatre in grand splendar. The music was terrific - the crowd a bit old and sedated.
