With numerous international, documentary, short and feature films on its multi-day schedule, FilmOut San Diego's 14th Annual LGBT Film Festival offers a star-studded mix of comedy, drama, true stories and even musicals. The mission of FilmOut San Diego is to enlighten, educate and entertain the communities of San Diego County and beyond by presenting LGBT-themed films. From the 2000 comedy smash Sordid Lives starring Olivia Newton-John, Beau Bridges, Bonnie Bedelia and Delta Burke under the direction of Del Shores to the West Coast premiere of the television documentary Positive Youth which follows the experiences of four HIV-positive young people in different American cities, there's something for every taste. Description
Shawn Pelofsky is a renowned headliner comic and “queen” of Atlantis Cruises and a finalist for The Comedy Central Laugh Riots. She can currently be seen on Logo’s The Gossip Queens and as You-Tube sensation, Lady HaHa. She has opened for Bill Maher, Margaret Cho, Richard Lewis and Huey Lewis and The News. Shawn's television and film credits include Chelsea Lately (E! Network), Comics Unleashed (ABC), Comedy Colosseum (NBC), Last Comic Standing (NBC), Minding the Store (TBS), Playboy Channel, Hype (WB) and Free Enterprise, starring William Shatner. She has been featured in Montreal's Just For Laughs Comedy Festival and in the all-female hit comedy tours, Pretty Funny Women, Nice Jewish Girls Gone Bad and The Hot Tamales produced by Eva Longoria.
Vicki Barbolak started her stand-up career in 1998, when she emerged as a favorite at famed venue, The Comedy Store. Roseanne was so impressed that she hired Vicki as one of her writers and requested that Vicki open for her at the New York New York Casino in Las Vegas after winning Nickelodeon’s America’s Funniest Mom show in 2007. She also appears with Pretty Funny Women, Rhonda Shear’s Up All Night Pajama Party and her own tour The Wild Girls of Comedy. Vicki is featured in the new film, Pickin and Grinnin and has appeared in a number of Indie films. Vicki is currently touring with the extremely popular Funniest Housewives of Orange County.
Justin Martindale is the first comic in fifteen years to be signed at The World Famous Comedy Store by owner and founder Mitzi Shore on the spot. He was selected to be one of the top comics to perform at the 2010 world-renowned South by Southwest Festival in Austin. He has performed with Bruce Vilanch and Shawn Pelofsky on Atlantis Cruises and at Atlantis resort in Puerto Vallarta and hosted the 2010 Annual Spirit of Hope Awards in Los Angeles honoring leaders in the LGBT community and researchers in AIDS/HIV.
Jackie Monahan, a trained actor & Upright Citizen’s Brigade improviser can be found performing in clubs, college campuses, Olivia Cruises and doing spots on Maxim’s Sirius radio and VH1 shows. Jackie, winner of Time Out New York’s Joke of the Year in 2008 was nominated for ECNY’s Best Female Stand Up Comedian. Download her hit podcast Girls on Girls for the here! Network on iTunes. Watch for Jackie as Zylar, one of the main characters in the new movie, Co-Dependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same.
