This Sea & Air Parade Cruise did not measure up to the last one I took. I only saw 4 Navy ships, and 2 of them went by before the Lord Hornblower even left the dock. For starters, in previous years there was a program which described and told a little something about each ship and plane taking part in the parade. There was no program this year. There were no stealth ships, no submarines, no aircraft carriers, and the only 2 tall ships were the Surprise and the Californian, who were scheduled to engage in a mock cannon battle. The air part of the Sea & Air Parade was a little better, but again, several planes went by before we even left the dock. Part of the reason we left the dock late was because a small boat parked behind us and the owner began to fish! I have no idea why he did that or why the crew did not chase him away. In the middle of our cruise we had to move out of our position because a cruise ship left the dock and s l o w l y went out to sea. I sincerely hope next year's cruise is better than this one; that said, the problems with my enjoyment of the parade had little or nothing to do with the quality of Hornblower's cruise.
