Before he wrote Wicked and Pippin, Stephen Schwartz created Godspell. Based on the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, and featuring a sparkling rock-gospel score, this joyous musical retells the story of Jesus and his disciples through a series of charming, comedic sketches. One of Lamb's Players Theatre's most popular shows, Godspell includes the Top 20 hit "Day By Day."

MiXtape: A Musical Journey Back to the '80s From Lamb's Players

Full Price:
$48.00
Our Price:
$24.00

This totally tubular comedy-musical, which has played at the Horton Grand since summer 2010, follows a group of friends who come of age during the 1980s, when Ronald Reagan was president, the Berlin Wall came down, and the hits of Madonna, Genesis, Sting, Duran Duran and Michael Jackson were all over the airwaves. This high-energy show features a neon-colored combo of comedy, nostalgia and a fantastic soundtrack of top '80s music, complete with a live band. Written by Jon Lorenz and Colleen Kollar Smith and directed by Kerry Meads, it's a celebration of all things Gen X that everyone can enjoy. Learn More

It is full of energy and music. The message of the play is interesting (if you are of Christian faith then you would understand it even more). BUt generally, I recommend it simply because of the acting and singing...just spectacular.

A talented cast and thoroughly enjoyable performance! Many laugh out loud moments and an ensemble cast that delivers solid musical performances while playing off each other's strengths very well.

Description

by Stephen Schwartz
and John-Michael Tebelak
directed by Robert Smyth
musical direction by G. Scott Lacy
choreography by Colleen Kollar Smith

Featuring Lance Arthur Smith, Jessica Couto, Season Duffy, Tracy Hughes, Jon Lorenz, Leonard Patton and Greg Thompson.

Before he wrote Wicked, Working, or Pippin, Stephen Schwartz wrote Godspell. Go back another 1,970 years, and you'll find a guy from Galilee who changed the world. Now Lamb's Players returns to one of its most memorable shows of all time with a new multiethnic cast and a sensational band, in a stirring production that incorporates Schwartz's recent musical additions to his now-classic score. Packed with infectious songs like "Bless the Lord," "It's All for the Best," and the beloved anthem "Day by Day," Godspell tells the Greatest Story ever told - in a style that blends commedia, vaudeville, even Saturday Night Live-esque shtick - with music that ranges from cabaret to pop to reggae to show-stopping musical theatre. Godspell is a great time at the theatre - perfect for the whole family.
