Didn't know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. It looked as if the ship was used for whale watching, so it was significantly larger than the number of people occupying it for this event (even though it was sold out). It made for a nice, relaxed atmosphere, as well as wide open decks outside. The food (nice appetizers) was very tasty as well, and served throughout the duration of the cruise so you could eat at your leisure. The bar selection was small, but hey it's a friggin' boat. I took my girlfriend on it and we had a laid-back and romantic time. I would definitely recommend this. Bring a sweater or a jacket though, we were quite pleased we did :)

We had a really good time. We were greeted with champagne as we boarded and headed to the dining area. I was worried about not getting enough food, but there was plenty the entire 2 hours. At first, you serve yourself and get some of the really tasty appetizers, then someone comes around and serves you additional appetizers. Near the end of th ecruise, they come around with desserts. The Holiday music was wonderful and the bar had a pretty good selection of drinks considering it wasn't a huge ship. Everyone was so friendly. For the price/experience, I recommend trying this out! We went on the cruise with family, but would also have been nice as just a couple...it was romantic!

It was great although the parade of lights was cancelled we still had a good time. The only problem was that we boarded late and had to stand in the rain but the food was good, the service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

This event was a bit of a disappointment. The whole point for us was to see the bay Parade of Lights, which was canceled at the last moment because of the rain and poor turn-out (no fault of Hornblower's, this). But boarding time was scheduled for 5:30; we had to wait in the rain until 6:15 to board the boat. Then once we had done the circuit of the harbor and passed under the Coronado bridge and back, the boat wallowed around for over half an hour doing not much until it was time to return to the dock, with rather unprepossessing views to look at. On the plus side, the appetizers and little desserts were plentiful and absolutely delicious, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
