This outrageous comedy with a hip screenplay by Ash Christian follows Mangus Spedgewick (Ryan Boggus), a high school senior in Rivercity, Texas who hopes to fulfill a family tradition by playing the role of Jesus in his local annual production of Jesus Christ Spectacular (the poor man's version of Jesus Christ Superstar) -- until a freak accident renders him legless. Shuttled off to live with his estranged mother (Jennifer Coolidge) in a trailer park, the teenager finds new friendship with a quasi-sibling (Heather Matarazzo) and winds up playing the coveted role of Jesus after a series of strange events that reunites his family. The film features gay icons Leslie Jordan and John Waters.

I really liked the premise of the story..I just thought some of the humor was over the top and sometimes crass. The lead actor, Mangus, was awesome and the other costars did a pretty good job. I don't think I would recommend this movie to friends even on DVD,
