Combining more than 50 great songs and a powerful story to match, Respect is a musical celebration of women in America over the past century. From Gershwin's 1926 standard "Someone to Watch Over Me" to Cyndi Lauper's 1983 smash "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," Respect makes for a fun, informative and thought-provoking journey through pop music and the women's rights movement. Created by Vanderbilt professor Dr. Dorothy Marcic, and based on the research for her landmark book Respect: Women and Popular Music, this musical production uses the last 100 years of popular music to illustrate the shifting roles of women, in music and in the world at large.

Tremendous value in a small venue---"It must be him" song segment had me in stitches--never laughed so hard at a play. All involved had wonderful voices--not much as far as set design but all in all a terrific play.
