Suburban couple Ben and Mary are hosting a cookout to welcome their new neighbors, free spirits Sharon and Kenny. But the casual barbeque soon turns into a delirious and dangerous bacchanal, shattering the fragile hold Ben and Mary have on their way of life -- with unexpectedly comic consequences. Detroit is a bitingly humorous look at what happens when we dare to open ourselves to something new and challenges our assumptions about status, comfort, ambition and community. Written by Lisa D'Amour (Ten Thousand Things, Nita and Zita), Detroit was a Pulitzer Prize finalist and one of The New York Times' top plays of 2012. What a wonderful evening we had! The cast are talented and energetic and highly entertaining. An hilarious and yet poignant experience. I would heartily recommend anyone seeing this excellent production. The performance of "It Must Be Him" was one of the funniest bits I remember seeing in a very long time--we were literally rolling in the isles.
