Spring Awakening took Broadway by storm when it debuted, winning eight Tony Awards including Best Musical. Punctuated by an electrifying and hauntingly beautiful rock score by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, Spring Awakening follows a group of teenagers as they navigate the confusing and often troubled waters of adolescence and their budding sexuality. Based on an Expressionist play that caused a scandal in 19th-century Germany, it's a bold and touching musical that captures the timeless and turbulent experience of youth transitioning to adulthood. The characters grapple with issues like teen suicide, pregnancy and identity -- tough topics that remain as relevant as ever. Learn More

I've become a big fan of one-man theatrical performances ( Hal Holbrook as Mark Twain, Ed Asner as FDR etc... ).
This presentation was engaging and entertaining - excellent theatre!
Francis Gercke, as Henry David Thoreau, did a splendid job of not only telling the story of Thoreau but making him relevant to today's audience ( there was a high school group in attendance which seemed engaged enough throughout - no small feat! ).
The set of PARADE ( current Cygnet Production ) lent itself well to the period of Walden; with a simple desk/chair and a podium added. The lighting was very effective and the simple piano soundtrack enjoyable.
