For many, Be Here Now was more than a book on Eastern philosophy, it was a mantra and a way of life. Now it inspires Be Here Now: The Journey of Ram Dass, a play about the book's author, the amazing Ram Dass. Take a psychedelic journey with the man born Richard Alpert who, along with Timothy Leary, was kicked out of Harvard for experimenting with LSD. Alpert later traveled to India where he studied intensely with a guru and was given the name Ram Dass which means "Servant of God." He then returned home and wrote his definitive book -- later deemed the "counterculture's Bible" -- and quickly became a spiritual teacher for an entire generation. Experience the entire trip thanks to this acclaimed new play written by Lynne Kaufman and performed by Warren David Keith. Learn More

The Oceanbeach Playhouse is a very quaint theater that is decorated with art from local artists that is for sale. Very interesting things to look at. We had never seen this play before and enjoyed it. Many in the audience were "groupies" and had seen the story many times! During intermission they held a raffle that was very fun. Very comfortable venue and a great evening!
