The theater enterance is actually off 29th, not university. I took my husband to see the nutcracker for the first time in his life! We enjoyed the intimacy Of the theater, every seat was a good view. I would recommend.Written on Dec 05 2011
There was a restaurant and bar within the building and it was great booths to purchase nutcrackers of your own. All in all it was a great experience.

The San Diego Ballet and the School of San Diego Ballet performed the Nutcracker flawlessly. It was a perfect mix of professional dance, with some serious parts and some whimsical parts. The addition of the littler dancers made it fun, while still being professional. The costumes and set were delightful, and the symphony was also terrific. The Birch Theater was packed, with not a bad seat in the place!Written on Dec 05 2011

The Nutcracker at the Birch Theater was a great holiday date night! My b/f and I got center stage tickets. Any seat in this intimate theater would be good seats though. The dancers, music, choir, and stage decorations did not disappoint.Written on Dec 05 2011
We are locals to North Park so we walked just a few blocks to get to the theater. If you have to drive, there is a multi level parking lot just across from the theater or street parking if you can find it.
North Park is a great place to catch a show and dinner. There are many restaurants to choose from if you plan to get dinner or drinks before or after the show. We started our night off at Splash, a wine bar. Perfect for getting some wine samples and a little something to eat before heading to the theater. After the ballet, we went to West Coast Tavern which is connected to the Birch theater. It's a lively place with great drinks and good food.
Another great night and some much appreciated savings thanks to GoldStar!!
