Loved it! I really wanted to see the Nutcracker, and I am so happy I did. Made it an evening with my Mom, who is now in her late 80's. Wonderful to see it with her, as, of course, she introduced me to it as a child. First of all, the "plot" was explained in the program so for the first time, we actually understood what was going on. (okay, duh!) The costuming was beautiful; some of it reminded me of sparkly cotton candy! The San Diego Symphony was perfect, and the dancing...Oh, the dancing. The beautiful, darling children! The leaps and extensions! The pirouettes! The fun! Simply classic ballet. I sat there on a Thursday night thinking, I could come back on Saturday, and see it all again!
Choreographed by Maxine Mahon with music director John Stubbs conducting Orchestra Nova December 15 and 16 and the San Diego Symphony December 19-23.
Starring Chie Kudo as well as Carlo Di Dio, Vitaliy Nechay, Oscar Burciaga, Bernadette Torres and Rebecca Correia.
