Each summer, massive blue whales pass by San Diego as they feed on large concentrations of krill. H&M Landing offers the opportunity to see these majestic mammals live and up-close -- along with other forms of marine life -- on this tour. The six-hour trip includes informative narration from knowledgeable captains and on-board marine naturalists about the blue whales and other animals you may encounter, including finback, humpback, Minke, orcas, fish and sea birds. The boats are equipped with a galley lounge featuring hot food and beverage service.

Really great trip, unfotunately, no whales. We saw lots of dolphins, sea lions, seals and many different types of birds. The naturalists were very helpful and informative. We saw the border patrol stop and escort a small boat into the bay. It was a peaceful and relaxing day that I enjoyed very much. I'll try next year during mid-season and maybe meet a blue whale, then. Meanwhile, I'll go in Jan. to see the gray whales.

While we didn't see any whales, we had a good time. When we saw some wildlife, the Captain circled the boat around so we could see better. It left and returned on time. It seemed well organized and was a fun day on the water.

The cruise was nice and we saw quite a few dolphins and sea lions and multiple sunfish, but no whales. I've been on this cruise before and had an amazing whale watching adventure; however, this was at the end of the season for blues and we just didn't come across any. I'll attend again next time they're migrating.

So I suspected that going whale watching would be a "hit or miss" kind of thing, and this certainly would qualify for a "miss". We didn't get to see one whale which was a bit disappointing but, I don't blame the company for that. The trip itself was peaceful and fun, we got to see a few dolphins (two different types, one of which was pretty large, they said it was the largest species of dolphin). The people were nice & informative. Cost for snacks was reasonable. My wife and I didn't get sick but the smell of the food they were cooking was pretty strong and she said her stomach got a bit queezy by the smell but fortunately no illness.

The only thing I would have liked is if they would have talked a bit about not seeing whales, acknowleded that it was either a) normal or b) bad luck usually not the case. Because nothing was said I'm not sure if I'd try my luck again.
